Indian Village Principal Named Principal of the Year

Indian Village Principal Stephany Bourne was recognized recently as the District 3 Elementary Principal of the Year at the fall conference of the Indiana Association of School Principals.

Bourne was named principal of the year for IASP’s District 3, which includes 10 counties in northeast Indiana, earlier this year. One of the 12 district winners was chosen as the State Principal of the Year and announced at the conference Sunday, November 19.

“It is an honor to be recognized by my peers in northeast Indiana,” Bourne said. “There are many great principals working hard to educate children, and they all deserve to be recognized.”

Bourne has been principal of Indian Village for 10 years, and has worked in Fort Wayne Community Schools for 31. As a Northrop High School teacher, she was named Teacher of the Year. Bourne began her career in education as a teacher at Shawnee Middle School in 1976. During her time at Indian Village, the school has been recognized for its academic achievement, including being named a Blue Ribbon School in 2003.
